This evening, my song is a soft, slow melody. It is one that has played in my mind for a number of days and nights.. over and over. It is a love song. It began that way. Its composition began with sincere hope and love and caring, its melody sweet. Yet the sweetness of its message became discordant somewhere within.. and the melody is no longer beautiful. It continues to play in my mind.. over and over again. And I wonder, “how did the sour note find its way into this song and how can I find a way to remove it? Is its presence beyond my control? Did I place the discordant note within the song? Can I find a way to make it harmonious and beautiful, the way it was meant to be?”
Perhaps, as a composer, I am not the best. Although well meaning, we can often stumble and fail at certain pursuits, even when we sincerely try our hardest to make something beautiful and meaningful. And perhaps, over time, that discordant note can be discovered and replaced with another that will make the song beautiful.. the way that it was meant to be.
This evening, I will pray that God will help me find that new, beautiful note.. Or perhaps, He will help me compose a new song.. one that is more beautiful than the last. One that has a lovely melody from beginning to end. Or perhaps, He will write the song and play it for me and my loved ones, and we will listen. And we will all know that it is the most beautiful song of all. Yes.. that is the song that I will hope for. And pray for. With love and hope and prayer, all things are possible..
